Alright, so it has been over a year since I have blogged about veganism. Which is a true shame. A lot has happened in the last year, and I won't lie to any of you...I did start eating dairy again in there...but I am back to full fledged veganism. Have been back for about a month and I have NO intention of going back. :)
I now have a son (who will be 5 months old on the 16th of this month) I have decided that I am going to be raising him vegan, despite the objections from my family and friends. He is already lactose intollerant (thanks to the sperm donor) and I was going to raise him vegetarian regardless. There is no reason to consume animals and they make vegan everything (mac & chreese, chick'n nuggets, hot dogs...) all the things that little kids love. I want my son to be as healthy as possible since he already has had heart surgery. I also bought him This is Why We Don't Eat Animals which is an amazingly cute children's book! I highly recommend it to any parents of vegan and vegetarian children!
I have been doing all sorts of vegan baking recently, my goal is to eventually just become a land whale. :)
In the past couple weeks I have make chocolate cupcakes, peanut butter cookies, egg nog cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and blueberry muffins. (I believe that's eveything!) I have been unemployed and staying at home with my son so I just find recipes I think that look good, and I also recently purchased PETA's Vegan College Cookbook, and I just try new things all the time and I am super excited to share it all with you!
I think this time around I'm embracing my veganism a lot more. I'm a lot more vocal about my beliefs and like it better this way! I've even been told that people would prefer it if I wasn't so "preachy" about veganism on my Facebook. Thanks, but I'm not changing my entire lifestyle because one person complains, delete me if it bothers you so much! I'm not even preachy, I've never been militant. I'm probably the most militant now than I ever have been and I really enjoy wearing my animal rights attire and speaking out for what I believe in.
